35+ At-Home Date Night Ideas for Couples (Movies, Games & More)

You don’t need a reservation, a babysitter, or even real pants to have a great date. Some of the most romantic nights happen right at home — after the kids are down, with whatever you already have in the pantry. Below is a small collection of at-home date nights, sorted by mood. Tap any idea to open it up, complete with the original free printables you can download.

Movie & TV Date Nights

Movie on the Move — watch a film in the most unexpected spot you can find

What guy doesn’t love it when his favorite girl clasps his arm and squeals out for his protection during frightful scenes in a scary movie? Why else do guys take girls to haunted houses this time of year? If you are looking for an extra thrill this Halloween season – this date night is terrifyingly quick, easy and will give you reason to sit close to your sweetie!

Here is what you do:

  1. Choose a scary movie
  2. Prepare your viewing device – laptop, iPad, or even your phone by charging the battery and downloading the movie or inserting the disk.
  3. Find the scariest location possible for viewing: abandoned warehouse, in the woods, in a car parked on an abandoned road etc.
  4. Bring blankets, pillows etc. to the location and cuddle up for some thrills, screams and a frightfully good time as you watch the movie.

Not a thrill seeker? Adapt this date for a new setting: find a beautiful overlook as you watch a romantic comedy or go to a high rise building as you watch an action flick. The possibilities are endless!

I am ALL for creative dating….less “dinner & a movie”….and MORE unique dating experiences!!  BUT – there are just SOME movies that you MUST watch on the “big screen.”  {Clear throat} Ummm….Avatar…..for one!!  We LOVED that movie and we were so glad we splurged and saw it in the theater!

But who says you can’t throw a little “extra” into that date as well??  I’m a huge fan of the website Executive Homemaker and I first saw this idea on there.
When the next BIG movie comes out that you and your honey can’t wait to go see…try this quick & easy idea!!  Create a “movie ticket” earlier in the week and place it on his pillow…it will definitely get him even MORE excited to watch it with his honey!!
I created mine in Microsoft Word….so you can easily download it and change the info and the movie. Just go to the website of the movie you are wanting to see, right-click on the picture/image you want, and paste it into the word document I created.  (Don’t forget to delete the Avatar picture first…)  There are TWO tickets on the download…’cuz YOU need one, too!!  Enjoy!

A REELy Fun Date — stop sending reels, start saving them

The easiest at-home date night you’ll actually want to do

Stop Sending Reels. Start Saving Them. 📱😂

You know those Instagram reels that make you instantly think of your spouse?

The ones you send with:

  • “This is us.”
  • “HAHAHAHA.”
  • “Why is this so accurate?”
  • “I’m crying.” 😂

Instead of sending them all week long…

SAVE THEM.

Then at the end of the week, turn it into a ridiculously easy date night.

Reel Date Night

The “Reel Date” Idea

Here’s how it works:

Throughout the week, both of you save reels instead of sending them.

Then one night:

  • Put the kids to bed
  • Grab snacks
  • Open Instagram on the TV
  • Take turns sharing your saved reels

That’s it.

No reservations.
No planning.
No spending money.

Just laughing together over the weird little things that reminded you of each other all week long.

Why this date is secretly the best

It’s simple, but it creates so much connection.

You get a peek into:

  • What made them laugh
  • What made them think of you
  • Their humor
  • Their random algorithm chaos 😂

And honestly? Laughing together is wildly underrated in marriage.

Quick Tip: How to Watch Reels on Your TV 📺

There are a couple easy ways to make this feel like a real movie night:

  • AirPlay or screen mirror your phone straight to your TV
  • Use an HDMI cord adapter to connect your phone directly to the TV
  • Or if you have Instagram on a smart TV/browser setup, you can pull them up there too

Big screen = bigger laughs. 😂

Pro Tip: Make it feel like an official date night

A few ways to level it up:

  • Make popcorn
  • Order dessert
  • Build a blanket pile on the couch
  • Rate each reel from 1–10
  • Compete for “funniest reel of the week”

Winner gets a back rub. Obviously.

Don’t you worry, I have some cool ideas for a quick party to go along with the show!

First, below are some FREE invites to send out! I asked my guests to DRESS in business attire!

Then I made “BIG TUNA” sandwiches, “Dunder Muffins,” and of course “Stanley’s Free Pretzels”  (I cheated on the pretzels and just bought a bag of pretzels instead of baking the nice big ones) and I printed off the below cute printables for the food!

During commercial breaks, let couples at your party award each other a DUNDIE AWARD!!! What a great way to praise your spouse in public 😉 and yes I’ve included that FREE PRINTABLE for you, too!

If you want to catch the season premiere, it is this Thursday, Sept 20th 9/8 Central, on NBC!

You can also watch episodes from last season here https://www.nbc.com/the-office/ or buy all of  “The Office” Seasons on Amazon.

I’ve done all the work for you! Just print everything off and have fun laughing with your spouse and friends!

Grey’s Anatomy Date Night — scrubs optional, drama required
Grey’s Anatomy
Need a heart-stopping date STAT?
This episode of The Dating Divas brings you an all new date brought to you by one of our very own readers – Mary! Not only was she super creative in her date idea, but she provided TONS of free printables for you to recreate this idea on your own!
Sarina-greysanatomy-Collage

I purchased some scrubs from Walmart in the appropriate light blue and dark blue colors.
Upon entering, there were all different signs:
Hospital Sign
 X-ray room
MRI room
Emergency room
Break room
 Seattle Grace logo
and I even made badges to top it off!
sarina-greysanatomy-xraypic
I found a ton of awesome x-ray pictures on Google images. I printed them on 11×17 paper and hung them from twine, with clothespins.
sarina-greysanatomy-bodypic
I found a shower curtain at the dollar tree, to use as a tarp, and rolled up towels to look like a person under the blanket.
sarina-greysanatomy-prescriptionpic
Next to the pill container, I placed the prescription bottle I put together inspired by your Prescription for Fun post.  I asked the lady at Walmart for an empty one and she gladly gave me an extra large one! I made a label and filled it with chicklets.
Also on the same tray, I had little cups with “pills” (aka candy) that I put in mini dixie cups.
sarina-greysanatomy-bonespic
I went to whole foods and bought pizza dough because I wanted to make a hand filled with pepperoni and cheese. I had extra so I made some bones out of the dough, too. The bones came out better than the hand. The hand really expanded a lot but it looked cool anyway and it tasted delicious!
I also created a thermometer treat using pretzels dipped in white chocolate from inspiration I found HERE.
Finally, I used The Dating Diva pill container idea and filled it with “7 reasons I love you”… all starting with the letter of the week the paper was in.

Wow! What an impressive date Mary! Thank you so much for sharing!

The Blind Side Movie Date — pair a tearjerker with comfort food

  • Create a little training camp, have competitions in ladders, sit ups, push ups, victory dances, etc. Create scorecards and after add ’em up!

The Invite:

  • Check out Corie’s Ready For Some Football invitation that is perfect for a date night like this!
  • Find a football toy at the dollar store and write a cute invite on it.

For The After-Game Party:

  • Find an old cheerleader outfit and put on a half-time show!
  • Dress up as a HOT tutor and help each other “study” for the BIG TEST after the movie.
  • Play ‘touch’ football with a nerf football. Play tackle each other and know that cheating is encouraged!
The Napoleon Dynamite Date — tots, quesadillas, and your flippin’ sweet party

A Flippin’ Sweet Party!

I love using the Dating Divas to show my hubby how much I love him, and I love being a guest blogger!

This party is a tribute to my home town, PRESTON, Idaho!  Not only did Napoleon Dynamite put us on the map, but it also makes a great theme for a party!

First we had to have a great invitation. My awful handwriting finally came in handy and my talented husband used his great artistic skills and drew an awesome Liger “a mix between a lion and a tiger with mystical powers.”

I included the invite below for you.

We started out by throwing our STEAKS on the grill (chicken for the sissies) and had some TATER TOTS as a side dish.  {“Napoleon, give me your tots!“} Then washed that all down with 1% milk.

Once our bellies were full, we sat down to practice our Napoleon Drawing Skills. Using a 30-second timer, we split into two teams and played pictionary using a word list I compiled from the movie.

I’ve included the words below.

(The top word is easier and the bottom word is meant to be harder.)

Then we sat around and watched the Napoleon Dyamite Animated TV Show. The shows are so funny, and completely true!

While we were watching and laughing we were also keeping our hands busy with some Boon Doggle. {“Pedro offers you his protection.“}

And no one can leave one of my parties without pictures! Deb’s Portraits was one of my favorite parts! {“Now imagine you’re weightless, in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by tiny little sea horses.”}

Some other Napoleon Dynamite party ideas are…

  • Steak Throwing Contest
  • Play Football
  • Bike and RollerBlade Race
  • Play Tether Ball
  • Have a Dancing Contest
  • OR “Make your own dang Quesadilla’s” instead of Steak

Oh and don’t forget your party favor… Chapstick! {“But my lips hurt real BAD!”}

So go have some fun and laughs… have your own flipping sweet Napoleon Dynamite party, LUCKY!

John Wayne–Themed Date — an old-school cowboy night in

Another fabulous and fun date night at home from one of our awesome-possum readers, Nicole!!

So, Nicole actually got this date idea from one of Charlene’s dates called She’s All Country. There’s county dancing and horse back riding in it so it totally made her think of cowboys and her hubby LOVES him some John Wayne! So this is what she put together for her lil’ date night!

GiddyUp

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. To learn more about ’em, click here.

Get out yer’ guns and cowboy hats folks… here’s a fun date you’ll remember!

Using the fireplace in the living room as her “camp” since it could pose as a campfire… Then you get the warmth and the smell of good old campin’.

Get an old dutch oven that looks like the old pots they used to cook over the fire. What is in it, you ask?  Baked beans-what else?  Grab a glass that looks a bit like a mason jar for your “moonshine.”

She burnt the beans a bit stating it adds to the ambiance! For their dinner, they had a huge meal-cowboy food of course-on camping plates.

Then if you want you can grab these crazy bottle labels below from over at Oriental Trading.

Decorating is HUGE!!! Make or buy a big cactus and horse wall decorations to complete the camp scene then throw in an old Indian looking blanket for a bedroll.

Now you can snuggle up and enjoy the rest of the evening watching good ‘ol True Grit….

and don’t forget the John Wayne Monopoly too!

How fun!! I, myself, don’t know much about John Wayne, so this date would be super educational for me. Thanks Nicole!! We love the creativity!!

Twilight Date Night — a Twilight-saga night for the fans
Wendy - Sassy Suggestion The Twilight Date - Pinterest Pic

The lovely and talented Christina sent us this thrilling date night for THIS big anticipated weekend. Many of you have probably already seen the new Twilight, Breaking Dawn movie. But for those of you who don’t rush the crowds and want to make a date night out of it… THIS is for you!

First, Christina hit the Halloween sales to find some clearance glow in the dark fangs and then made a note that said, “Fangs” for being mine! You can print that awesome-ness out below! She then put this in her hubby’s car on the morning of their date as an official invite!

They went to the show and because they have small kids who needed to be in bed, took the rest of their date night home with them. (BTW if you’re not into Twilight or can’t get your sweetie to go see it with you, you could rent a different vampire movie or watch episodes of one of the vampire TV shows at home.)

While she put the kiddos in bed, he went and got Brazilian take out for dinner. Some of you may ask why Brazilian?? Because Bella and Edward went on their honeymoon to Brazil! …..and because it is delicious food!  She also made this yummy Brazilian dessert to share after they had eaten. You could also play the Twilight soundtracks as background music for dinner too.

Source
Since Bella and Edward get married and go on their honeymoon in this movie, it was perfect to bring out something lacy and remind your husband of your own honeymoon. Another fun thing you could incorporate is Bath & Body Works “Twilight Woods” fragrances. They have body lotion, shower gels and candles. The shower gel would make a fun steamy shower for two or the body lotion would make for some relaxing back rubs! If you’re really adventurous their is a popular scene in the book/movie involving a feather pillow. Pillow fight anyone? LOL

A big thanks to Christina for this great date night idea!

My Man’s Twilight Survival Kit — build your man a Twilight survival kit

Twilight Survival Kit for your Spouse

Corie - My Man's Twilights Survival Kit - Pinterest Pic

About three things I was absolutely positive…

First, most women LOVE Twilight!
Second, a lot of husbands don’t get as excited as their wives!
And third, a great way to get your man on board with Twilight is through TREATS!
My husband has heard a lot about Edward, Jacob, and the whole Twilight saga. To put it simply….he just doesn’t get it. So with the recent release of Eclipse, I created a “My Man’s Twilight Survival Kit.” This kit is guaranteed to get my husband (and yours) to see Eclipse and to share in some of the magical world we know as Twilight.
In my kit, I had to include the best treats that would win over my man.
Let’s start with the vampire treats first….
#1 Vampire Diet Food: We all know the Cullen’s have a special diet, so beef jerky was the perfect solution. What man doesn’t love beef jerky?
#2: Icebreaker Mints: Every vampire is as cool as “ice” and so are these mints.
#3: Vampire Ice: Chap stick that will make any kiss as cold as ice cream.
#4: Blood Straws: The perfect pick-me-up for any vampire.
#5: Type A Drink: A quick “vampire style” refreshment.
We can’t forget the special werewolf treats…
#2: Red Hot Werewolf Sticks: Werewolves are hot! Enjoy this “red hot gum.”
This Twilight Survival Kit is sure to please any man and get them in the spirit of Twilight!

The Cake Date — decorate cakes for each other, then taste-test

To me, dinner is just NOT complete without dessert!  My sweet tooth may be the end of me one day but, until then, I just relish in it!  With the weather making it less appealing to venture outside, I decided to combine two of my favorite things, my hubby and dessert, into one fun date night!

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. To learn more about ’em, click here.

Date’s Ingredients:

  • 1 Boxed cake (easy, right!?)
  • 2 Mini cake or loaf tins
  • 1 Container of White Frosting
  • Food Coloring
  • Assorted Candies, I used my left over goodies from my Inside Trick or Treat Date!
  • Printable Note

Earlier in the day, I made the boxed cake mix in individual loaf tins.  Using the tins the cakes were baked in, I unloaded the white frosting and added in some food coloring (wait to do this until pretty close to the date so the frosting doesn’t get too hard). After dinner, instead of grabbing a typical treat, I grabbed the printable note and the two cakes and showed them to my man!

Baked Cakes

Colored Icing

The only rule of this date is that you are to decorate the cake, for your spouse, by representing their interests, wants and/or likes! I’ll warn you now; it’s MUCH harder than it looks to decorate cakes with sticky frosting and little candies! (I suggest using toothpicks for more detailed ideas.)

My husband and I laughed the entire time because of how much trouble we were having making it look like what we had in our minds. PLUS, we were making a BIG mess and eating more of the candies then placing them on the cakes!

Finished Cakes

The finished products (as you can see) are not NEAR the skill level of the Cake Boss, but we had fun none the less! AND they tasted better than they looked.  For my husband’s cake, I put two cameras because he absolutely LOVES photography. I also included a basketball (looks more like an orange baseball, but he got the point) and a heart to express my LOVE for him!  My hubby, made my cake into a car because he knows how much I’d love a new car.  I guess a cake car will do for now!

If your sweet tooth is still aching, I suggest you check out this Romantic Dessert of Black Forest Mousse by our very own Diva, Angie!

S’more Lovin’ — bring the campfire indoors for s’mores

Show your hubby “S’more Lovin'” with this quick and easy idea!  National S’mores Day is coming up on August 10th!  Yay! What a fantastic holiday to celebrate during the summer!  We’ve got a super cute printable for you to make the day even more exciting to celebrate!

Here’s what you do… Print your FREE printable and jot down a few reasons why you love your hubby!  Every husband always loves to hear “s’more” reasons why they are so awesome!  Then, cut out the printable and fold it into a box.  This box can now be stuffed with all the fixin’s for s’mores!  Cute, right?!  Enough graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows for two!

You could have this little present waiting for your hubby when he gets home from work, you know, for dessert after dinner. Or maybe give it to him on his way out the door in the morning so he has something to look forward to all day!  Feel free to think outside the box (pun intended) and think of some “other” ways to incorporate “S’more Lovin‘” into your day as well!  Your hubby will definitely appreciate any way you want to show him s’more love!  WINK!

Get your FREE S’mores Printable Here!!!

**TIP: I took my printable to kinkos/fedex and had them enlarge it on to an 11×17 piece of cardstock for $2.60 so I could fit some extra chocolate in there! 🙂

Ice Cream Date for Couples

It has been a HOT summer!  With temperatures well above 100 degrees in many parts of the country, this date night is the perfect cool treat for your sweetheart.

Super fun and EASY ice cream date for couples! #tehdatingdivas

To set the scene, I drew inspiration from Corie’s post: After Hours Ice Cream Party, which featured a wonderful invitation by One Charming Party.

I simply printed off the invitation and personalized it for an ice cream date for 2.  I also turned their adorable “Thank You” cards download into little love notes.  I sprinkled these fun notes around the house where James would find them the day before our date.  These little gems were perfect for putting a smile on his face. (Sorry! The invite pictured is no longer available but here’s something similar!)

Ice Cream Date Love Note

Now for the main event: make your own ice cream!  This frozen treat on AllRecipes.com fits the bill perfectly since it only calls for 3 ingredients and requires little or no freezing time.  Less time in the kitchen translates to fewer dishes and more time with your spouse. We used frozen raspberries instead of strawberries and they worked great.

Life has been super busy for us lately! I decided we needed a night in that was fun but relaxing.  Welcome to the date night known as, “MEXICAN FIESTA EXTRAVAGANZA”!

The Invite

I found a few cheap decorations at the Dollar Tree to add to the evening’s ambiance.

Print your invite!

The Dinner

One of our favorite restaurants on the planet is Cafe Rio! Ooh, just typing the word makes me crave one of their famous pork salads.  My ultimate goal was to have a date night at home, so I found an incredible recipe from Favorite Family Recipes.  You will also find recipes for the beans, rice, tortillas (basically a recipe for everything you will need).

Source

The Drinks

Pina Colada’s via a frozen pina colada mix for $1 at the grocery store.

The Dessert

My friend Ali makes delicious fried ice cream. Her secret ingredient is to use Frosted Flakes instead of regular Corn Flakes. It gives your fried ice cream an extra sweetness!  I used a fried ice cream recipe from Favorite Family Recipes.

Source

The Entertainment

My husband is a huge fan of salsa!  I surprised him with his favorite tortilla chips and two new brands of salsa.  We sampled each salsa and named, “Pace Picante Medium Salsa” as our new favorite!

We also visited YouTube to learn some basic Salsa dancing moves!  We loved learning new moves and ended up laughing at our attempts to be Salsa dancing stars!

We ended the night with one of my favorite movies of all time, The Three Amigos!  This is a classic movie and a great way to end this date night!

Remember all those getting to know you questions you’d ask during the dating days?!  Like, what’s your dream job? What was your High School Mascot? Do you remember your spouse’s responses?!  Let’s hope so!  Tonight, you’ll see who is the Relationship Smartie with a great couples game, Head of the Class!

How to Play:

1. Print out the adorable, colorful printables designed by Tasha at Whimsicle Design.

2. Cut out the game pieces.  (For the player pieces, be sure to leave them connected somewhere in the middle so they stand up properly!)

Paige-AugHeadofClass-Game-WebLogo

3. Each spouse will fill out the answers on their corresponding game card.

Paige-AugHeadofClass-Directions-WebLogo

4. To start the game, roll a dice.  The person who rolled the highest score will ask the first question.  If you don’t have a die near by, a good ole fashion game of rock-paper-scissors will do the trick!

5. Take turns asking each other a question from the list.  If answered correctly, move one space on the game board.  For each incorrect answer, move back 1 space.

6. The first person to reach the “head of the class” is the Relationship Smartie and is awarded the bright printable with the sweet treats attached. OH, and they have bragging rights for the night! {wink, wink}

Pac-Man Date Idea — retro Pac-Man date for an 80s night
80’s Night Pac-Man Themed Date
I know it’s early, but my Husband was born in November 1980 which makes him the big 3-0 this November! I am going to plan a few date nights centered around the 80’s theme up until his birthday where I am already planning his 80’s themed party (shhhh….he doesn’t know yet!)
Kristen-PacManDateIdea-Pinterest Pic
This Saturday (May 22) 30 years ago was the release of Pac-man.  I thought this would be a great time to kick-off the 80’s themed dates I am going to plan.

When Jason got home from work I had this taped to the door.
(It’s supposed to be an arcade game machine.  This was SO last minute!)
Inside I put a Pac-man eating cheese puffs on the ground.
The cheese puffs lead to this note, saying:
“Thirty Years ago tomorrow, Pac-man was released! Let’s celebrate by putting on our Nerdy 80’s attire, grabbing some fast food, and waiting for the Unveiling of Pac-man!”

We dressed up as 80’s gaming nerds, and hit up McDonald’s just like the nerdy kids probably liked to do in the 80s. 🙂
We got lots of great looks from everyone!
(Jason’s outfit is way better than mine – did I mention – this was SO last minute…)
Then we went to Blockbuster where we rented 80’s movies to watch up until the time that Pac-man would have been released.
Our choice of movies were:

The movie “Weird Science” would have been perfect for this date! Our blockbuster didn’t have it! 🙁
We stayed up til 12:00 a.m. and downloaded the free Pac-man game on our Iphones to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man!
Happy GAMING!!!!

The X-Box Date Night — make video games an actual date

At Home Gaming Night For Two!

Today we have a fun way to make your husband’s game fantasies come true! You playing games with him! Woot-woo!! Mindy, one of our fabulous readers, sent us this super fun idea to make it a night you both enjoy!! Here she is…

So, I’m not a big video game fan at all. I don’t play them because I would rather be reading. However, my husband is a lover of ALL the games! He’s asked me a few times to play with him and I always give him a resounding, “No, Thanks!” I’m just not interested.

Well, he had to go away on a business trip one weekend and a few days before going he said to me, “Will you ever play video games with me?” Out of habit my answer was no, but then I had a brilliant idea! I now consider myself a diva-in-training, I thought, what a cool date this would be for him! A whole night of video games…so I began planning. I made an invitation for our night of competition, and went to the Game Stop to purchase a cheap used game that would actually interest me. I wrapped them up and hid them in his suitcase to find while he was away.

Then I made some decorations to hang around the house, themed to the XBox and the sports games he likes to play. I wrote on them reasons why I loved him to make them extra special!
{Print them below}
While he was away, I texted him fun “wifey” stuff to let him know I missed him and to get excited to come home and see what the date was all about!
The day he traveled back home, I baked up some cookies and put our little girl to bed early so I could be waiting for him.
We ended up playing the game I picked out for hours! He won’t admit it but I think he enjoyed it more than me! We never even got to his sports games, but that can be for a date for another night!

*       *       *       *       *       *       *

Such a fun and easy date night, Mindy! I love this idea, and I think I am going to do it this weekend! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Love is a Battlefield — marshmallow battles and s’mores

All is fair in love and war, right?! Well, today we are going to find out. I have the perfect end of summer date night for you and your hubby OR for a big group. Leave this invite with a bag of ammo to get them excited.

Next up, you’ll need to prep your weapons. Lucky for me, my awesome brother made these for us for Christmas this past year so the hard work was done for me. Here is a tutorial for a real simple one. Make sure you have a gun for each person and a bag of ammo – mini marshmallows.

Start the date off with a little target practice first to make sure you have the hang of the weapons. (You can download all the printables below.)

Then put a little wager down, whoever loses has to do the dishes for a week or some other chore like that. Once the bets are made, start a little capture the flag or a similar game. Set whatever rules you want, but we decided that if you were hit you had to return to your original base.

Once you are worn out and covered in marshmallows, it’s time for S’MORE fun!

Light a fire, cozy up together, and end your night roasting some marshmallows. There are TONS of ideas out there on Pinterest with a wide variety of S’MORES you can make but we went with the original. And you can ALWAYS roast a marshmallow over a candle if you don’t have a fire pit. Although, this would be a super fun date while camping!

A perfect ending to an end of summer date – or family activity. I’m sure the kids would LOVE to get in on this date night idea.

May I Have This Dance — a surprise slow dance in your living room

Get ready for an easy idea that you can do in 5-10 minutes! It is sure to put a smile on your spouse’s face.

This is something that I love to do after the kids get put to bed when we have alone time. I have even pull out the CD’s I made while in college to play “our songs.” It makes it special, romantic, and easy for a special moment between us. It always brings a smile to my hubby’s face, and we generally reminisce about our dating years! If you decide instead to play a romantic song when your spouse walks through the door from work… grab his hand, lead him to the kitchen, and DANCE!

If you want to take your music night a step further, try this date centered all around music. It is super creative and would be lots of fun as a couple or even with friends!! Click HERE to see our LAST fabulous “Love On The Run” idea!

A Year of Memories — walk through your year of memories

Year in Review

Need something quick to add to your New Year’s Night plans? In less than 10 minutes you can add something meaningful to end your year right AND create a new tradition for years to come! We’ve got you covered!

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. To learn more about ’em, click here.

Starting a new year is a time of reflecting on everything that has happened in the last year and looking forward to things to come. My husband and I love to keep journals and look back on how we’ve changed. It is so easy to forget favorite memories and so fun to see the change over time.

In order to do just that – I thought it would be fun to start a brand new New Year’s tradition in our family! I created this adorable reflection printable to document the year. It includes a section to write a little about yourself, plans for the upcoming year, world events, and more! How fun will it be to look back on these in years to come?

All you have to do is print one out for each member of your family. There are 2 pages and can be downloaded at the bottom of this post!

Gather your spouse and/or family together and take some time to fill it the questions and talk about their answers.

Finally – store it somewhere safe and accessible so you can pull it out next year! I am planning on putting ours in sheet protectors and a binder to collect over the years.

Whether you are planning a large party or a quiet night at home for this New Year’s Eve – this idea can fit into any of your plans! Taking time to reflect on the year is part of what the night is all about! I even made one in which the year is blank so that you can do this with your family for years to come!

Ready for Some Football — game-day date for two
Corie-ReadyForFootball-Pinterest

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. To learn more about ’em, click here.

College football season has started and for me that means I’ve lost my husband to the TV most weekends. He’s good to keep his watching in check and I want to be supportive of his hobbies, so I decided to embrace the season and get in on the fun!

A little envelope with some tickets inside. Each ticket is like a coupon for something fun like “one football treat”, “a night out with the guys to watch the big game at Buffalo Wild Wings”, “Good for One afternoon of me watching with you”, and my favorite…”Good for one game of me NOT booing the Utes.” {His favorite team and my rival. Go Cougars!}

So here is how you put it together. It is SUPER easy! I did it in under 15 minutes, and that was with gathering my supplies AND taking pictures.

  1. Collect your supplies. Scrapbook paper, glue, ribbon, a tag, ink, and tickets. I purchased a GIANT roll at an office supply store (I figure I’ll use them with my kids for SOMETHING.) You can purchase them here .
  2. Fold your paper so it is longer on one side and glue the sides to make a little pocket. Ink the edges.
  3. I purchased a little tag, tied a ribbon on it and inked the edges.
  4. Print out the FOOTBALL LABEL, cut and glue on to the tag. Then adhere the tag to the envelope.
  5. Write a few coupons and/or messages on your tickets.
  6. Insert the tickets into the envelope and leave it out to surprise your spouse!

Super easy and it will show him you care! And if you are REALLY wanting to get in on the football action, check out Kristen’s Pep Rally date. Or you can get more coupon ideas here.

Merry Kissmas Love Message — lipstick kisses and a Merry Kissmas message

Welcome back to our LOVE ON THE RUN series!

If you are new to these cute posts airing EVERY FRIDAY, check out all the details HERE.

Leave lipstick kisses on the mirror with a sweet Merry Kiss-mas message.

My hubby is a firefighter and isn’t home for two days in a row, so pulling off a surprise like this is easy for me. For those of you who don’t have that *luxury* – maybe hop out of bed, acting like you’ve got to use the restroom or sneak out once he’s asleep or wake up a little bit earlier than normal and set the scene. Who says you can only do this in one room? I kissed every mirror we own, including his shaving mirror and his truck rear view mirror. Your hubby won’t be expecting kisses all over the house, he will love it!  Keep him on his toes by leaving kisses and sweet “kissmas” messages the whole month through!

Haunted Gingerbread Houses — Halloween’s answer to the gingerbread house

We never do traditional Gingerbread Houses. It is much more fun to do HAUNTED Gingerbread Houses!

       Here’s what you need:

  • Candy (Halloween colors or style)
  • Graham Crackers
  • Frosting (I used fudge frosting this year)

My husband gave me the, “I don’t know” look the first time I told him, but he was a trooper and did it with me. Now it is his favorite Halloween tradition! Here is our Haunted House for this year!

If the cookie is broken or the frosting is messy –  it makes it even better!

…and if you need an easier dessert, try this fun idea I found on THE PEACEFUL MOM!

GINGERBREAD SKELETONS

I just love crafting around the holidays and making traditions! I think this year we will try Erika’s craft, Some Mummy Loves You. It’s an adorable card that can double as a cute home decoration.

Have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
