What Is the Lucky Pot O’ Gold?
The Lucky Pot O’ Gold is a chance to slip sweet notes to your spouse and let them collect “gold coins” in the days leading up to St. Patrick’s Day. Each coin they find comes with a quick love note—and on St. Patrick’s Day, they get to spend their hard-earned gold on a Lucky Day menu of romantic rewards you’ve picked out just for them. Part treasure hunt, part love letters, part date night: it’s the whole lucky package.
What You’ll Need
- The Lucky Pot O’ Gold printable pack (coins, love notes, an invitation, and two Lucky Day menus)
- A small jar or container for the gold — a mason jar always turns out cute, but anything works
- Optional: a little black tulle or ribbon to dress up your jar
- Scissors
- Your spouse’s favorite little treats, if you want to tuck a few in

How to Set Up Your Lucky Pot O’ Gold
- Print your Lucky Pot O’ Gold printable pack. Depending on how “generous” you want to be, print a few copies of the gold coins and love notes pages.
- Prep your jar: attach the Lucky Pot O’ Gold label, and add tulle or ribbon if you’d like.
- Cut out the coins, notes, invitation, and the Lucky Day menu.
- On March 1st, kick things off by leaving your spouse the jar, the invitation explaining the activity, a sweet starter love note, and a few coins to begin their collection.
Hiding the Gold Coins
For the ~16 days leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, your only job is to tuck a few coins and a quick love note somewhere your spouse will stumble onto them. How often and how many is totally up to you—once a day, every few days, or a couple of times a day if you’re feeling extra lucky. Aim for at least 20 coins total so they’ll have plenty to spend.
Fun places to hide the gold: in their shoes, tucked into a coat or pants pocket, under their pillow, or even inside the morning cereal box. Short on note ideas? Our big collection of love notes and free printables has plenty to borrow from.

Cashing In: The Lucky Day Menu
When St. Patrick’s Day finally arrives, surprise your sweetie with the Lucky Day menu so they can spend their gold! The pack includes two menus—use ours as-is, or fill in your own ideas to spoil your spouse. A few favorites:
- A sweet kiss or a slow dance in the kitchen
