Colorful leaves, crisp air, pumpkins, apples, and a legitimate excuse to hold hands so you don’t get separated. Fall is the easiest season to plan a date around, and a corn maze is the easiest date in it.
Here’s the whole evening — a corn-themed dinner before you go, the maze itself, free printables to tie it together, and a few ways to keep the night going once you’ve found your way out.

Day Maze or Night Maze?
Worth settling before you go, because most farms run both and they are completely different dates.
The daytime maze is a nice fall walk — sunshine, hot cider, taking your time, arguing pleasantly about which way is north. The nighttime haunted maze is the one where you grip each other’s arms and shriek at a teenager in a mask.
If one of you loves Halloween but hates being scared, the day maze is your answer and there’s no shame in it. If you can’t agree, go twice.
Start With a Corny Dinner
Lean all the way into the theme before you head out. It’s cold, you’re about to walk around a field for an hour, and a warm dinner first is the right call:
- Corn chowder in bread bowls — store-bought soup absolutely counts, and nobody has to know
- Corn on the cob — obviously
- Corn bread with honey butter
- Candy corn for dessert, or a bakery cake if you can find one with a maze on top

The Free Printables
Kayley at Ollie & Lulu Designs made these for us — a printable invitation, mason jar labels, straw flags, and a flirty note to close out the evening.

Dinner in a Jar
Want to eat at the farm instead of at home? Pack the meal into mason jars and label the lids. Cut the tags out, or save your hands and use an extra-large hole punch, then glue them on.
Soup travels well. So does pie. Pie photographs better, which is why you’re looking at pie.

Get Lost on Purpose
Here’s the thing nobody tells you about corn mazes: the fun isn’t finding your way out quickly. It’s the twenty minutes in the middle where you’re genuinely unsure, one of you is confidently wrong, and you’re both laughing about it.
Make it a competition if that’s your style. Each of you picks the direction at every fork, alternating turns, and whoever’s choices get you out buys the hot chocolate.

Add a Pumpkin Patch
Most corn maze farms have a pumpkin patch attached, so grab a couple on your way out and carve them at home. Skip the standard jack-o’-lantern and make it a contest — each of you picks a design in secret, set a timer, and the worse pumpkin does the dishes.
We’ve got 75 free carving stencils and 150 pumpkin decorating ideas if you want to get ambitious, including plenty of no-carve options.

The Bedroom Invite
Once you’ve made it out of the maze and the time is right, slip your sweetheart the flirty little card. A good fall date night needs a little cuddling. And maybe a bit more.

No Corn Maze Nearby?
Two ways to do this one from the couch:
- Make your own maze. This free maze generator lets you print one out and race each other through it.
- Watch a maze movie. The Maze Runner is the obvious pick. Popcorn required.

I need to find a corn maze near our house!
This looks like fun! Hopefully it will cool off soon in AZ and we will feel like it is fall so we can try it.out.
I live in AZ too so I totally feel you! Can’t wait for cooler weather.
What a fun idea to bring dinner in a jar. Thanks!
You’re welcome. 🙂
Cute idea!! I LOVE everything fall.
Me too! Can’t wait for fall!
I’m going to make Apple Crumble for either the “pie in a jar” or the “dessert in a jar”. Chili for dinner. Warm cider – yum. What are you thinking on the “Fall in a jar” though?
I’m thinking of crocheting some quick jar cozies for this date. In some nice autumn colors.
Oh that sounds so darling! I can’t crochet to save my life. I was thinking some fall scented potpourri with cinnamon sticks, cranberries, orange and apple slices. But those cozies sound way better! 🙂
I’m sold! This is a great Fall Date Night. Thank you for sharing the printables and the idea.
You’re completely welcome!! Hitting up a good corn maze is always one of my highlight of the season!
